Evansville to Join National I-69 Corridor in 2014
Pending federal approval, nearly 21-miles of Interstate 164 in Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties will be renamed I-69 in 2014, making Evansville part of the national I-69 corridor.
State highway officials say pending final approval from the Federal Highway Administration; the new signage will be installed during a transition period over a few months during the fall of next year.
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials approved INDOT’s request to rename I-164 at its Annual Meeting in October.
Meanwhile, construction is underway on all 27 miles of I-69 Section 4 between Crane and Bloomington, which is expected to open to traffic in phases during late 2014 and early 2015.
