Windows 8.1 Hits Market Today
Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows 8.1, goes on sale today.
Some industry analysts say the new system is more of a patch for the problem-plagued Windows 8 operating system Microsoft rolled out last year than a brand-new system.
A major criticism of Windows 8 was that it tried to serve both traditional PCs and the new tablets, but wound up not serving either very well.
Windows 8.1, critics say, is an improvement but still suffers from being one size that doesn't fit either platform as well as it could.
However, experts also say the rollout of an updated operating system is proof that Microsoft is listening to its customers' complaints and trying to fix the problems.
