Study: Students Willing to Pay More to Live Near Campus

A new study of half a dozen major college markets in the US shows that students are willing to pay more in housing costs for the convenience of living close to campus.

The Ball State University study found students would rather pay more to live within a mile of campus, than to rent much cheaper apartments several miles away.

The study, conducted by Ball State professor Carla Earhart, shows students are willing to pay an average of nearly 20-percent more to live within easy walking distance for the convenience.
