Vincennes Gets $1.3M Grant for Levee Improvements

The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs has awarded the City of Vincennes a 1.3 million dollar grant for improvements to its levee system.

The city will match 10 percent of the grant, which will allow the city to complete a large portion of the remaining unfunded levee related projects.

City officials say they are working closely with the US Army Corps of Engineers to finalize the remaining projects that need to be completed to satisfy FEMA and Corps of Engineer requirements to remain in a levee protected flood zone and also remain in positive standing in the Corp of Engineer’s Levee Safety Program.
