Indianapolis Police Officer Shot And Killed

The man killed in the shootout that also left an Indianapolis police officer dead had just gotten out of jail over the summer.

24-year-old Steven Byrdo had served time for a probation violation from a previous conviction for dealing drugs.

An IMPD report says Byrdo fired the shots that killed Officer Rod Bradway just before two-o-clock this morning at Eagle Point Apartments on the northwest side.

IMPD says Byrdo was killed from gunfire from Bradway.

Bradway was responding to a domestic disturbance call, and IMPD says he burst into the apartment when he heard a woman calling for help.

Byrdo served time for a 2011 cocaine conviction and was in jail earlier this year for violating his probation from that conviction.
