Sisters Arrested after Fleeing from Police

Two Pike County sisters are facing charges after fleeing police Tuesday.

Indiana State Police say an intruder report turned into a drug investigation after suspected drug paraphernalia was found in a home in Velpen.

While awaiting a search warrant, the homeowner, 47-year-old Tina Winchell, fled with her three year old child in a car driven by her sister 52-year-old Lisa Schaefer.

Schaefer allegedly attempted to run a Pike County deputy off the road on several occasions during a police chase that ended on US 231 south of I-64.

Winchell's three-year-old daughter was released to a family member.

Winchell is facing preliminary charges of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Neglect of a dependent, Fleeing from Lawful Detention, Resisting Law Enforcement and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Schaefer is facing preliminary charges of Assisting a Criminal, Resisting and Criminal Recklessness.
