Deer Harvest Expected to be Down this Year

Last year's Indiana deer harvest was bountiful, but biologists don't expect that to be the case this season.

Hoosier deer hunters harvested over 136-thousand deer in 2012.

Research biologist Chad Stewart says he thinks a dip in the harvest might happen because hunters harvested a record number of does last year and reproduction was likely down compared to previous years.

The deer hunting season began Sunday with the opening of the urban deer zone season.

Archery season starts October 1st.

Firearms season starts November 16th.
