(Vincennes, IN) -- Knox County Parks officials are looking for a way to clean up the Enoco Mine site.
Recently, Parks Superintendent Rama Sobhani met with the Southern Indiana Development Commission in search of grant options for the project. He, SIDC officials and officials from Wilcox Engineering in Evansville toured the Enoco site to go over concerns about remnants of different former operations at the mine. Sobhani said they're the same ones they've had for a long time.
The groups discussed the options and determined the best course of action is a round of grant funding they hope will become available later this year from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. If the grants become available, officials said it would help the parks if they'd already had an environmental and historical study done. Sobhani said no concrete plans are in the works as of now.
