Illinois Governor Signs Law Lowering Age Kids Must Start School

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a new law Sunday that aims to give kids a better start in school.

Currently, Illinois students technically don't have to start school until age seven.

Quinn says this new law drops that age to six….

The change will take effect with the 2014 school year.

Children who turn six years old by September first of next year will be required to be in school.
26 other states have a similar law.
