Illinois Governor Facing Fight Over Minimum Wage
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will face strong opposition to his election-year plan to boost the minimum wage.
Quinn has said he wants the minimum wage in Illinois to rise from eight-25 to ten-dollars-an-hour, but says with pension reform at the top of the agenda, it's unlikely there will be action in the fall veto session of the Legislature.
Illinois businesses, though, are ready for a fight.
Kim Maisch, Illinois director of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, says companies are struggling in the wake of the recession and can't afford an increase in the minimum wage.
