Kentucky Man Arrested for Allegedly Drugging Rockport Women

Indiana State Police arrested a Kentucky man Friday after Rockport City Police received reports by two local women they had been drugged.

The women had met 40-year-old Robert Chad Edwards of Cloverport, Kentucky over the internet.

Edwards allegedly drugged both women during dinner and both became drowsy.

One had some personal items taken.

However, police say neither woman was injured.

Police arrested Edwards for Delivering a Schedule IV Controlled Substance; Dispensing a Legend Drug Illegally; Criminal Recklessness; and Theft.

Although online dating sites have helped many people find friends and mates they can also be avenue for people with ill intent.

The Indiana State Police recommend that you never meet someone in person that you have only met online.

However, if you feel that you must meet the person that you have met online follow these safety tips:

• Don’t give personal information i.e. home address, phone numbers
• Meet the person in a public place
• Do not invite people to your home
• Take a friend with you
• Do not leave food or drinks unattended
