The State of Illinois has indefinitely suspended the medical and controlled substance licenses of the director of emergency medicine at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel. The Evansville Courier reports Dr. Miriam Baumgart's license was suspended after she diverted controlled substances for personal use while on duty as an emergency room physician. Baumgart was appointed director of the emergency department at Wabash General Hospital in August 2012. Part of her duties was to coordinate the local ambulance service. She had worked as an emergency room physician since 2008.
