Montgomery Teen Dies from Injuries in Truck/Horse Cart Accident
A 17-year-old Montgomery girl died Monday night when a pickup truck hit the horse drawn cart she was riding in.
The accident happened around 10:00 PM on County Road 900 East in the area of Graber Post buildings.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department says the driver of the pick-up truck, 17-year-old Tristian Wagler of Montgomery, failed to see the cart.
He swerved to avoid hitting it, but struck the left rear corner of the vehicle.
Four girls riding in the cart were ejected.
One of them, 17-year-old Amy Wagler of Montgomery, was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and then flown to Saint Mary’s in Evansville where she later died.
Police say the cart did have functional lights at the time of the crash.
