IL: Governor Signs Boating Safety Law

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has signed a new boating safety law prompted by last year's death of a 10 year old Libertyville boy.

Tony Borcia was struck and killed by a speedboat while tubing with his family.

The speedboat driver had drugs and alcohol in his system.

The new law requires any boat operator involved in an accident involving serious injury or death to submit to a breathalyzer and blood test.

It's supported by Tony's mother Margaret.

Those who refuse the testing or have drugs or too much booze in their system face losing their Illinois driver's license.

The new law takes effect January first.
