In-Car Cameras Now Required for Illinois DUI Offenders

Illinois D-U-I offenders who still want to drive are going to face a little more scrutiny.

Eligible drunk driving offenders can keep their driving privileges if they use an ignition interlock device, which measures their blood alcohol.

Secretary of State Jesse White says that set up also now must include an in-car camera.

White says since the ignition interlock program expanded to first time D-U-I offenders in 2009,
drunk driving deaths have dropped by 24 percent.
