Illinois Ends Year Deeply In Red

Even with tax revenue coming in at a faster rate, the State of Illinois still finished the fiscal year six-point-one-billion-dollars in the red.

State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka says that while there's been some progress whittling down a mountain of unpaid bills, that stack is expected to grow by another one-point-four-billion-dollars next month.

Topinka says the state is likely to have nine-billion-dollars in unpaid bills by December.
