Two Sent to Hospital after Off Road Vehicle Accident near Velpen



Two persons were hospitalized Sunday following an off-road accident near Velpen in Pike County.

Conservation officers say the accident happened on County Road 900 East when 13-year-old Gavin Boyd from Winslow lost control of his off road vehicle while rounding a curve.

The vehicle hit a pole and went down an embankment.

Boyd and a passenger, 6-year-old Briar Thomas of Petersburg, were thrown off the vehicle.

Boyd was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Thomas was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville also with non-life threatening injuries.
