An Indiana State Trooper was injured and another man killed Monday afternoon during the armed robbery of a Daviess County gun store.

Shortly after 1:30, Trooper Jarrod Lents was called to a disturbance at the Black Oak Armaments Gun Shop in Montgomery.

State police say their preliminary investigation indicates an armed robbery was in progress and gunfire was exchanged between Trooper Lents and the unnamed suspect.

Police say indications are that Trooper Lents was struck multiple times, but his injuries are reported as non-life threatening.

He was taken by medical helicopter to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

The suspect is reported to have died at the scene as a result of gunfire from Trooper Lents.
