Quinn Calls Special Session Over Pension Reform

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is ordering lawmakers back to Springfield later this month to deal with the state's pension crisis.

Quinn called the special session for June 19th as another bond rating agency downgraded the state's bottom-of-the-barrel credit.

Failure to pass a plan to deal with a 100-billion-dollar pension shortfall has prompted Moody's Investor Service to cut the state's credit rating from A3 to A2 with a "negative" outlook.

The House and Senate have approved different pension reform plans but failed to reach a compromise before the end of the session.
