Vincennes Tree Board Prepares Battle Plans for Emerald Ash Borer
The Vincennes Tree Board continues to discuss ways to pay for cutting down more than 200 Ash trees on city right-of-way before the Emerald Ash Borer arrives in town.
The Board may ask the Vincennes City Council for funding.
Officials say it will be less costly to dispose of the trees now, before they become infected.
Tree Board members say once the Ash Borer infects a tree, it's useless for any purpose and must be cut down and disposed of at an authorized disposal site.
Meanwhile, property owners are encouraged to cut down the trees, and sell or use the ash wood, before the ash borer arrives.
The ash borer's closest sighting to this area has been in Monroe County, near Bloomington.
