Mt. Carmel Man May Change Plea in Federal Court Next Week

A change of plea hearing is set for Wednesday morning in U-S Federal Court in Benton, Illinois in the case of 52-year-old Kevin Williams of Mt. Carmel.

Williams is facing 40 counts of wire fraud and money laundering charges in connection to a local family's finances and estate.

Williams had previously pleaded not-guilty to the charges.

However, he is apparently planning to change that plea to guilty on some of the counts.

Each wire fraud count carries up to a 20 year prison sentence while each money laundering count carries up to 10 years in prison.

A federal jury trial was set to begin on June 10th.
