IL: Governor to Review Medical Marijuana Bill

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn says he will carefully review legislation legalizing medical marijuana approved by lawmakers last week.

The bill sets up a tightly regulated pilot program to allow patients with illnesses like cancer, aids, M-S, and A-L-S to use small amounts of medical cannabis for pain relief.

Quinn hasn't said yet whether he supports the plan, but has heard from those who do.

Supporters say medical pot is safer for patients than addictive painkillers.

Opponents worry it will lead to more illegal drug use.
