Dale L. Goddard



Dale L. Goddard, age 74 of Linton, passed away at 9:20 P.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born in Terre Haute on February 18, 1939, the son of Clarence L. and Pauline (Jones) Goddard, and raised by his grandparents Clarence E. & Sarah Goddard in Terre Haute. He was a step-son to Clara Goddard of Terre Haute and the late George Frank of Hymera. 

He married Sandra Sue Wautelet on Feb. 20, 1966 in Hymera, and they had three sons, Dale Cary, Jason Edward, and Casey Leon Goddard. He was a 1957 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 as a military police officer in Germany. He worked for twenty years for National Cash Register Company before he started his own business in Linton. He owned & operated Linton Business Machines for 17 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church, Hymera Masonic Lodge #588, where he served as Past Master, served as Scoutmaster for the Hymera Boy Scouts and President of the Hymera Town Board. He was a member of the Linton American Legion Post #22, the Linton Rotary Club, & the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce where he served as past president. 

Dale's hobbies were gardening, mushroom hunting, bee-keeping, and golf. He loved to play checkers and over the years he won many trophies playing in the Indiana State Checker Tournament. 

He is survived by his sons, Dale C. Goddard of Bloomington & Casey L. Goddard of Muncie, three brothers, George (Judy) Bose of Clinton, Lee (Renee) Goddard of Terre Haute, and Jim Goddard of Sullivan, his step-mother, Clara Goddard, long time NCR brother, Marvin Christle of Minnesota, an adopted daughter in his heart, Ruth Lacy of Linton, and many beloved nephews & nieces. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra on August 2, 2012, his son, Jason on April 10, 1997, his father Clarence, mother, Pauline Frank, Step-father, and a brother, Donald Huey. 

Funeral Service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM, and Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service on Wednesday.
