Appellate Court Sides with V-U in Sparks Case

The Indiana Court of Appeals is siding with Vincennes University in an ongoing lawsuit filed by former VU Basketball Coach Dan Sparks.

The appeals court judges overturned a Special Judge's ruling that the university wrongfully terminated Sparks.

Sparks sued the university for 230-thousand dollars in 2005.

The termination surrounded a recruiting violation committed by Sparks in 2003.

Sparks argued that he should have kept his job, since he agreed to a loss of tenure and a zero-tolerance agreement.

The appeals court unanimously ruled the university had the right to terminate Sparks.
