The funeral for former Indiana Governor Otis Bowen will be held Friday in his hometown of Bremen.
The 95-year-old Bowen died Saturday night at a northern Indiana nursing home.
He was governor for two 4-year terms beginning in January 1973.
He was HHS secretary under President Reagan from December 1985 to January 1989.
Former Indiana Senator Richard Lugar calls Bowen "the best example of public leader in our state and nation because of his demeanor, intellect, wisdom and range of abilities that brought achievement and success to everything he did."
Governor Mike Pence has directed that flags at state facilities across Indiana be flown at half-staff through next Saturday to honor Bowen.
