Jury Finds Mt. Carmel Man Guilty of Murder

After deliberating nearly five-hours, a Lawrence County, Illinois Circuit Court Jury found a Mount Carmel Man guilty of First Degree Murder Friday night in the stabbing death of a Lawrenceville man.

21-year-old Tyler McQueen was found guilty of killing 78-year-old Robert Westall in Westall's cottage at United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville in March of 2012.

Sentencing is set for June 20th, at which time Judge Robert Hopkins will determine if there were brutal and heinous circumstances which would enhance the sentence.

Westall's niece, Helen Marie Westall, is accused of hiring McQueen to kill her uncle for $10,000 and a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Her trial is set to begin May 13th.
