The Indiana General Assembly approved a handful of bills this year sponsored or co-sponsored by State Senator Lindel Hume of Princeton designed to help veterans. If approved by Governor Mike Pence, most of the new laws will take effect on July 1st. Among Hume’s legislative initiatives this session were bills aimed at increasing job opportunities for Hoosier veterans. One bill allows medically-trained military personnel to be certified as emergency medical providers while another assists veterans in attending college after completion of their service. A third bill co-authored by Hume, improves economic opportunities for veteran-owned small businesses.
