A tip from a concerned citizen has led detectives from the Putnamville Post to open an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. The case originated on March 15, 2013 and ultimately led to the arrest of a Clay County man this evening. Detectives were able to determine that on more than one occasion over the last year, the suspect had sexual relations with a then 15-year-old female friend of his family, now sixteen.
Arrested: John T. Squires Jr. age 42, of Brazil, IN.
Charges: (2) counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, Class B felony
Held in the Clay County Justice Center on $25,000 bond
The case was investigated by ISP Detectives First Sergeant Jeff Hearon and Sam Stearley. Assisting was the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
