State Police arrested an Evansville couple Tuesday morning while investigating a report of illegal drug activity.

During a search of a home on East Sycamore, police found marijuana, paraphernalia and a box that contained equipment commonly used to cultivate marijuana.

32-year-old Shawn Smith and 29-year-old Christine Jackson were arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Neglect of a Dependent.

Their five-year-old daughter was present at the time.

The girl was later released to a family member.
