Petersburg Named Finalist in Stellar Community Program
Petersburg Mayor Frank Coleman Junior says Petersburg is a finalist in the Indiana Stellar Community Program.
Coleman says the announcement from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs is great news for the city, since it remains in the running for millions of dollars for re-development and the revitalization of the city.
Six other cities or towns have also been named finalists.
Petersburg will compete for the funding by means of a detailed application process, home town visit and community support from city and county governments.
Coleman says the support of businesses, organizations, and people throughout Pike County is also a critical part in becoming a winner.
Representatives of the 7 finalist communities will head to Indianapolis Thursday for an informational meeting.
