Illinois Governor Says No to Gambling Expansion
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is turning thumbs down on new gambling in the state.
He vetoed a bill that would have meant five new casinos, including one in Chicago, and slot machines at the racetracks.
Quinn says the bill doesn't do enough to reign in lobbyists for the gaming industry and doesn't ban them from making campaign contributions.
Quinn says he isn't opposed to gambling expansion, but says he wants a bill that includes more safeguards.
