Woodland Sentenced to 15 Years for Unlawful Possession of Firearm

A Pike County judge sentenced a Petersburg man to 15-years in prison this week for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.

37-year-old Michael Woodland pled guilty to the charge as part of a negotiated plea agreement.

Woodland was shot by a Petersburg Police officer in July of last year after he refused orders to drop a rifle and pointed the weapon at the officer.

The officer was investigating a domestic disturbance at 10-12 Trafzer Street at the time.
