Police Dog Replacement Bill Advances

Anyone convicted of killing or disabling a police dog in Indiana would have to pay the cost of replacing the animal under a bill moving through the Legislature.

It cleared the House Tuesday and now heads to the Senate.

The sponsor says buying and training a dog can cost a police department up to $12,000.
