Illinois Governor Pat Quinn says he has high hopes for a gay marriage bill expected to come up in the senate this week.Illinois already allows same sex couples to enter into a civil union, but some say that's not enough and is still discriminatory.
Governor Quinn says tweaks made to the gay marriage bill pending in the senate should appease concerns about churches that don't believe in same sex marriage having to perform ceremonies.
The house will also have to approve the measure.
If that happens, Illinois would become the 10th state in the nation to allow same sex couples to marry.
