The Department of Natural Resources is urging a special prosecutor to drop charges against a Connersville couple who nursed an injured deer back to health.The DNR's Phil Bloom says it's more important to make us all aware of the danger of bringing a wild animal into our homes.
Governor Mike Pence asked the agency to "reevaluate" after he was briefed on the case Thursday.
Legislators, including House Speaker Brian Bosma, had urged Pence to step in.
A conviction on a charge of illegally possessing a wild animal can bring up to six months in jail and a $500 fine.
