The eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 in Crawford County were partially or completely blocked for 11 hours Friday after a semi tractor trailer skidded on ice and turned over.Indiana State Police say the driver, 55-year-old Roger Smith of Evansville, was trapped inside the semi and had to be extricated.
He was taken to the Harrison County Hospital for treatment of internal injuries.
Smith was cited for traveling too fast for the conditions.
The semi tractor trailer was owned by Belmont Freight Corporation out of Evansville.
It was loaded with rolls of paper.
Crews worked for about 10 1/2 hours transferring the load of paper from the over turned semi to another semi to be hauled away.
Due to the icy road conditions and the lanes being blocked, several other crashes and slide-off's occurred in the area as motorists attempted to slow down for the wreck.
