Cops & Kids to be Held Thursday

The city of Washington will be filled with emergency lights and sirens blasting later this morning.

But it will all be for a good purpose as today is the 22nd annual Cops and Kids program.

More than 100 Daviess and Martin County law enforcement officers along with firefighters, probation officials and state police will be escorting area children on a special pre-Christmas shopping spree.

Steve Riney is the chairman of the event.

He says there's a priority list for each shopper.

About 170 children from Head Start locations in Daviess and Martin counties, plus 4 Rivers Pre School, will take part in today's "Cops and Kids" program.
