It's going to cost a little more to renew license plates in Illinois starting in January.Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a law raising the license plate fee by two dollars, bringing the total up to one hundred one dollars for most passenger vehicles.
The money raised will help fund maintenance and improvement projects at state parks.
Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Marc Miller says they have a huge list of repairs that need to be tackled.
Miller says D-N-R has suffered big budget cuts over the past decade.
The fee increase is expected to raise between 18 and 22 million dollars.
