State Conservation officers have charged an Evansville man with theft after he allegedly stole a deer from a campsite at the Pike State Forest in Pike County.

30-year-old Patrick Deweese is charged with theft and providing false information.

He allegedly stole the deer from a camper's truck and then checked the deer in at a check station claiming he had killed the deer.
