A recent survey of Duke Energy customers found that while many don't necessarily know a lot about the Edwardsport Coal Gasification Plant, they support more renewable energies as opposed to coal. The Sierra Club and Citizens Action Coalition commissioned Peak Campaigns to conduct the survey.
Mark Mehringer with Peak Campaigns says they asked 800 Duke Energy ratepayers their thoughts on renewable energies, coal plants in Indiana, and specifically the Edwardsport facility.
Mehringer says 81 percent of rate payers supported more renewable energies like solar and wind power.
Only 28 percent of those surveyed said they were aware of the Edwardsport facility.
