The Illinois unemployment rate is holding steady.

Although the jobless rate remained at eight-point-eight percent, about 48-hundred jobs were added in Illinois last month, most of those in the education, health, leisure, and hospitality sectors. 

One thousand construction jobs were also added last month. 

It's a significant improvement over last year, when the Illinois unemployment rate hit 10-percent in October of 2011.
