Hostess Brands, the maker of Twinkees and Ding Dongs, is going out of business. The company announced this morning that it's winding down operations and has filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court seeking permission to shut its doors and sell its assets.
Hostess had threatened to liquidate the entire company if enough striking workers didn't return to work.
Workers went on strike last week over contract changes which cut wages and benefits up to 32 percent.
Bakery operations have been suspended at all plants, including bakeries in Indianapolis and Columbus, Indiana.
