Jasper Police are investigating the accidental shooting of a Washington man.

It happened Thursday afternoon in the Jasper OBGYN parking lot on Dorbett Street.

The Dubois County Free Press reports 22-year-old Nicholas Durnil of Washington was wiping down his handgun while waiting in his car.

The weapon accidentally discharged, hitting Durnil in the left thigh.

Durnil was taken to jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.

No charges are anticipated.
