Delbert L. Jones, 81 passed away Thursday Aug.11, 2011 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born May 1, 1930 in Princeton to Edward and Blanche Mae (Nolcox) Jones. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Operating Engineers Local 181 where he worked for 46 years.
He had lived in Princeton all of his life. He was a member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church in Lyles Station. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching auto racing and other sports. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Alma (Hardiman) Jones, Princeton; 3 daughters: Carol Jones Montague, Newburgh; Brenda Jones Hardiman, Evansville and Sonya Jones Pritchett, Princeton; 2 sons, Bryan Jones, New Richmond, WI and Brent Jones, Princeton; sister, Elsie Goins-Morse, Evansville; 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Gwendolyn Jones Bright in 1972.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday August 17, 2011 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Allen McClendon officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
