County fairs COUNTY FAIRS are taking place today in Jennings, St Joseph and Shelby counties Vincennes Business District The Vincennes Central Business District is hosting another in its FRESH AIR FLICKS series. The movie is "A League of Their Own" and will be shown at dusk at Patrick Henry Square at 1st and Busseron. You should bring your own seating or blanket. Refreshments will be available. Donations will be accepted. City of Washington** All city offices in Washington will be closed in observance of the 4th of July holiday. There will be no trash pick up, bus service and the recycling center will be closed. Residents with friday trash pick up should have their trash out and ready by 7am on Monday. For details call 254-4564. Otwell Ruritan Club** The Otwell Ruritan Club presents its annual 4th OF JULY CELEBRATION at the Community Center. Friday activities run from 4 until 10pm and includes carnival rides, the Little Miss Firecracker Contest at 5 with the Miss Firecracker at 7pm along with a tractor pull at 7pm. DuBois Co Humane Society** The DuBois County Humane Society has set up a PET FOOD BANK at the Soutgate Shopping Center in Jasper. The pet food is available for people who are finding it difficult to afford feeding their pets. Food is distributed on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 4-7pm. Donations for the food bank may also be dropped off at that time. Jasper Optimist Club** The 2009 Jasper STRASSENFEST PARADE will be Sunday, August 2nd. Entries are now being accepted with the deadline of Friday, July 10th. Send entries to the Jasper Optimist Club, Box 435, Jasper 47547. Daviess Co Red Cross* The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is having a public BLOOD DRIVE. It will be at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington from 11:30 until 4:30pm.
