Woman Arrested for Smuggling Drugs into Prison
Authorities arrested an Indianapolis woman Saturday for allegedly smuggling drugs into the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle.
Prison officials say 27-year-old Katrina Scott allegedly smuggled a small candy bag containing balloons filled with drugs into a visit room and passed the package to inmate Coy Daniels.
Daniels was taken to the hospital after he swallowed one of the balloons.
Scott was arrested on preliminary felony charges of Trafficking with an Inmate, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine and one misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana charge.
She was released from the Sullivan County Jail upon her own recognizance due to medical needs.
Investigators allege Scott hid the drugs behind a medical life support apparatus strapped around her waist.
The 30-year-old Daniels, faces several conduct rule violations and will be placed in the facility infirmary for observation.
He is serving a 79 year sentence on Marion County Murder, Robbery, Battery and Cocaine Possession convictions.
His earliest release date is November of 2034.
