Washington Schools Resource Officer Grant

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller paid a visit to Washington Thursday to officially announce the Washington Community School Corporation is the recipient of a 50-thousand dollar grant to employ a school resource officer or SRO.
School Resource Officers are trained law enforcement officers who have been through the police academy and then receive an additional 40 hours of certification in working with students in schools.
Superintendent Dr. Daniel Roach says while the presence of an SRO will allow another layer of safety for the students, it's also a chance for students throughout the district to interact with another concerned adult.
