Lindel Hume has had it with politics. The 70 year old State Senator will wrap up about four decades of statemanship after this term. He says the politics not the tough issues we all face are what got him.
I don't know Hume personally, but every time I've spoken to him, wrote him, or heard him speak he was way more than a politician. He was a gentleman that seemed unable to speak out of both corners of his mouth. He didn't seem to have a bad word for anyone. His representation wasn't a personal ego trip, but quiet moves toward real solutions.
That doesn't mean I believe he was a pushover. I bet he wasn't. Just a gentleman we should all be proud represents us.
Let's hope a politician doesn't take his place.
