State Appeals Court Clears Duke Energy's $3.5B Rate Increase
The Indiana Court of Appeals ruled unanimously Wednesday that Duke Energy may proceed with a 16% rate hike to pay for part of its 3.5 billion dollar coal-gasification plant in Edwardsport in Knox County.
Environmental and consumer groups sought to overturn a decision made by state regulators in 2012.
Duke officials say much of the increase has already been
incorporated into customers' bills.
The Citizen’s Action Coalition says it may appeal the decision to the Indiana Supreme Court.
