Small Town Woes



Small towns across Indiana are fighting for their survival.

Purdue Extension Director Jason Henderson says the limping economy is taking a toll on parts of rural Indiana.

He cites shrinking employment, residents leaving for greater opportunities in cities and globalization as reasons.

A report says many small towns across the state have empty storefronts.

However, Henderson says many communities are figuring out how to stimulate their economies and improve amenities.
